About Us
Nature University is a class project initiated by Adjunct Professor Adil Dalal with graduate students from the school of Management and Business in the Master of Science in Project Management program at St. Edward's University, located in the heart of Austin, Texas.
As we have worked to create and execute this project, we have learned some valuable lessons regarding the importance of leadership, teamwork, and communication. We have discovered that effective leaders strive for the good of the whole and that a steady flow of efficient communication is essential to the process. And because projects inherently involve the active participation of a number of people from diverse backgrounds all working toward one goal, we have learned how integral synergistic teamwork is to the overall success of any project.
In his article "An Economic Crisis- a Curse or a Blessing?" "3 critical lessons to learn and apply to get out of the current economic crisis!", Professor Dalal discusses an innovative leadership model and strategy for combating the current economic crisis. There are three critical questions Professor Dalal requests that we all ask ourselves:
1. Could the current situation be a blessing, or is it only a curse?
2. What are the lessons we have learned from this crisis?
3. How can we get out of this "economy quagmire" and avoid a similar crisis?
Professor Dalal finds the answers to the above questions in nature's finest specimen of strength, wisdom and efficiency on planet earth - the magnificent eagle.
With the guidance of Professor Dalal, we took on the challenging task of developing the Nature University website and to initiate a global contest as a tool for people wishing to take their leadership skills beyond the realm of conventional teachings in classrooms, textbooks and workshops. In doing so, we hope to provide a forum for a worldwide audience to explore and share their findings of leadership in nature. By integrating these leadership lessons from nature, we aspire to be strong, ethical visionary leaders.
